On April 14, 2022, the China Arms Control and Disarmament Association (CACDA) and China Institute of Nuclear Industry Strategy (CINIS) jointly held the 1st High-Level Forum on “Strategic Security and Arms Control”in Beijing. H.E. Ambassador Chen Jingye, former Director General of Arms Control Department of Ministry of Foreign Affairs and former Chinese Ambassador to Australia, was invited to give a lecture on China-Australia relations. CACDA president Zhang Yan hosted the forum. CINIS Chairman Pan Qilong attended and addressed the forum. More than 40 experts and scholars from CACDA and relevant institutions attended the forum.
Ambassador Cheng Jingye reviewed the history of China-Australia relations since the establishment of diplomatic ties 50 years ago, introduced the latest development of China-Australia relations,and had in-depth discussions with the participants on arms control issues including the AUKUS nuclear-powered submarine cooperation. His remarks were well welcomed by the attendants.
The High-level Forum on “Strategic Security and Arms Control” is jointly organized by CACDA and CINIS, which aims to build a high-level and high-quality platform for academic exchange in the field of global strategic security, arms control, disarmament and non-proliferation.
